Besides all the normal activities (mountain biking, hiking, kid’s fishing pond, Imagination Station) that a beautiful mountain town can provide, Telluride has some top notch special programs designed for your child’s individual interests.
Telluride Academy – Located in the San Juan wilderness, Telluride Academy, a non-profit organization, provides children and teens with enriching, experiential programs that span the globe. We help to form a reliable inner compass within each student that guides compassion and creative learning, responsible choices and environmental stewardship.
Telluride Rock and Roll Academy — The mission of Rock and Roll Academy is to create and protect a space where students can make choices, take ownership of their learning, and develop independence of thought and spirit. All Through music!
Telluride Film Festival Student Symposium — The Symposium is open to 50 college and university students, no matter what your major. Yes, there’s an official “application,” but the primary requirements are to love film and be truly fascinated by it. All selected participants will receive a special Festival pass, free meals while in Telluride, and a travel stipend—the rest is up to you.
Nordic Skiing — Just outside the doors of the Nordic Center you will find three kilometers of immaculately groomed trail winding through Town Park. This is the perfect place to take a lesson or grab a quick aerobic workout. Contact the Nordic Center at 728-1144 to book lessons, schedule a tour or for information about Nordic skiing and events.
Pinhead Punk Science — Pinhead Institute’s Punk Science program is held in the summer for children in the lunchroom of the Telluride High School, Tuesday evenings from 5:15 – 6:00pm, typically running early July through early August. Admission is $2 per “punk.”
Ah Haa School — The Ah Haa School for the Arts is a community center of learning and culture that offers a wide variety of programs and seeks to inspire individuals of all ages to explore, develop and celebrate their creativity.
Telluride Parks and Recreation — The Telluride Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of year round programs for youth and adults in Town Park, and at the school gyms. Telluride Town Park consists of 36 acres of landscaped public park and festival grounds
San Sophia Nature Center – At the St. Sophia Nature Center you’ll find information on hiking and biking trails, weather expectations and local ecosystems to help prepare you for your adventures in the area. Interpretive displays include: geology, animal tracks and signs, pelts and skulls, Native American history & water use. The Nature Center is open daily from 9AM-4PM daily Monday, June 9 through Sunday, September 7.

Telluride Ski and Golf Nursery – Our Cubs Camp at the Nursery provides full day and hourly care for infants and toddlers ages 2 months through 5 years old. Each day brings a new adventure with exciting activities including story time, music, puzzles, games and art projects. We provide baby swings, cribs, baby gyms, walkers, bouncy seats and other toys that are developmentally age appropriate. Our facilities include a toddler play room, infant room, eating and art area, and four nap rooms. All of our care givers have early childhood experience and education backgrounds, and are certified in CPR, First Aid and AED. (5 years and younger)
Telluride Ski and Golf Cubs Ski Lessons — For children ages 2½ to 5 years, the Nursery offers a special program that will introduce your child to the slopes through special games and techniques with a personal ski instructor.
